ARC is pleased to welcome Sandra MacGillivray as an ARC Living Artist!

Painting in a realistic style, Sandra captures the emotion and mood of her subjects. Through color, texture, and detail, her work tells a story, preserving a moment in time and compelling viewers to pause and be inspired. Her paintings invite the audience to embark on a journey, offering a glimpse into the inspiration behind each piece. As she puts it: “My goal is always to engage with the viewer. Home Land

Published on March 24, 2025

ARC Associate Living Master Mark Harrison is holding a solo show of evocative, symbolic landscapes exploring the concept of "home" and it's intrinsic connection to the landscape.

The warm glow of light that emanates from each structure becomes a metaphor for the resilience and spirit within all of us set against the backdrop of uncertain futures. The imagined settings transcend specific locations, offering the viewer a chance to reflect on their personal sense of belonging amidst the changing world. Each composition invites an emotional connection suggesting that home is as much a state of mind as a place.

The exhibition runs from March 28 – April 19, 2025 at the Abend Gallery, 1261 Delaware Street, Denver, CO 80204

ARC is pleased to welcome Jim van Geet as an ARC Living Artist!

Jim van Geet was born in Amsterdam, Holland and came to Australia at a young age.

Although he had a natural ability and desire for painting and drawing, his education took a different path. After completing a Diploma of Applied Science and working as a technical advisor to patent attorneys, he then undertook a Diploma of Fine Art, changed careers, became a furniture designer and continued to paint.

Art is a passion for Jim, as can be seen from his evocative portraits and figurative work. He takes great delight in capturing the essence / spirit of his subjects as they inspire him to extend his art even further.

Developed over many years, her technique consists of airbrushed backgrounds, with the main work completed in watercolor and small touches of gouache. Using a tiny brush, her masterful and elaborate paintings take between 13 and 297 hours to complete. Many of the details are so fine they may only be seen with a magnifying glass.

Inked Impressions: Etchings in the Age of Whistler

Published on March 12, 2025

Drawn from the collection of the Delaware Art Museum, Inked Impressions: Etchings in the Age of Whistler, tells the story of the etching revival in France, Britain, and the United States. The second half of the nineteenth-century saw a resurgence in the printmaking process of etching. Beginning in France and then spreading to Britain and the United States, the reinvigoration of etching led to experimental uses of the medium. This exhibition features the work of pioneering artist-etchers, including James McNeill Whistler, as well as those who inspired him—most notably, Rembrandt van Rijn—and those who carried Whistler’s innovations into the twentieth century.

The exhibition runs from March 1 – July 27, 2025 at the Delaware Museum of Art, 2301 Kentmere Pkwy, Wilmington, DE 19806.
