"Lily is a drawing of my niece Lilian. She’s been one of my muses for my latest body of work exploring the use of rural landscapes as a metaphor for the human experience. I was pulled to create this drawing because Lilian’s profile is so unique and has a beautiful flow of line. She reminds me of a Waterhouse painting. In this drawing, I wanted to capture that feeling and beauty of contour and light. The lily is a symbol of femininity, purity and transience, which are also common themes throughout my work." – BRIANA LEE
