The Fountain of Youth by Christopher Pugliese

Started in 2007 and exhibited at the New Britain Museum of American Art in 2010 under the title Waking Consciousness, I considered this painting finished until I saw it hanging on the Museum wall. At that moment I had an epiphany about color, that the viewer could be drawn into areas with more or less chromatic intensity. Reworking this painting opened my eyes, like a child, to a new world of color. In 2015 I decided it was done and renamed it the Fountain of Youth.
