Vigil by Suzie Baker

This painting of my friend and fellow artist Dave Malin was painted in my studio. Here Dave takes on the persona of a doctor holding vigil through the night. The book at his left hand is Dr Chase's, Third and Last and Complete Receipt Book and Household Physician from 1891. These books were popular home reference books during the late 19th and early 20th century.
