29.75"x41" One of series of acrylic paintings illustrating scenes from "Frankenstein." In the painting, Justin Moritz is falsely accused of murder of William Frankenstein and confessor is pressuring Justin to admit her "sin." The characters are placed in contrast, Justin is under light and confessors are around her in shadow. While Justin is prisoned in cell, being questioned about her "sin," readers know she is truly innocent. In contrast, the confessors who believes themselves to be righteous are actually exploiting Justin. The light and shadow cast over characters hint at this idea of irony and innocence. In terms of morality, Justin is the 'have' and the those who caused her death are 'have-nots.' However, having moral superiority did not save her from self-righteous and ignorant people. She is later hanged due to angry mob that won't listen and ignorant judge who is not interested in justice.
