On the general subject of university change

I wish I could argue that university programs are of a consistently high quality, but I recently attended a Florida State University faculty art show and was quite dismayed by the quality of work. There was precious little figuration, and what little there was reminded me of high school level work. I was embarrassed for the artist.

But despite this poor showing in one school, I do believe there are good people all over Robert Schultz is one. A gentleman who just retired from University of Minnesota-Morris is another, Carol Pylant, William Beckman, Gregory Gillespie, there was even a gentleman named Brandt at my rather small undergrad program who could really draw. And these are just off the top of my head. Sure there are lots of folks masquerading, but there are plenty of the real deal too. Well, maybe not plenty, but they are around.
