She is a full-time professional artist residing in her native Maryland but travels extensively to paint and further her education as an artist. Carol Lee paints a wide range of subject matter including figurative, landscape, equine and Western themes.\u003Cbr /\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003ECarol Lee is featured in galleries throughout the country. Her work is part of many corporate and private collections including the Butler Institute of Art and Academy Art Museum in Easton, Maryland. Her art hangs in Baltimore\u0027s City Hall, The Fort McHenry National Shrine, the U.S. State Department, and the Star Pass Resort in Arizona. Carol Lee\u0027s exhibits include: The C.M. Russell Museum Show, The Western Masters, The Scottsdale Salon at Legacy Gallery, Gilcrease and the Albuquerque Museums\u0027 \u0022Miniature\u0022 Shows, The International Salon at Greenhouse Gallery, and the John Pence Gallery\u0027s Still Life Shows. She has been awarded First Place in the Oil Painters of America (OPA) On-Line Showcase (Signature) and a Regional OPA Award of Excellence. She has won First Place/Animals in the Artist Magazine Competition as well as finalist five times. She received awards for Best Sporting Art and the action Award with The American Academy of Equine Art; the Cheyenne Frontier Days Show, and the Salmagundi Club in New York. Carol won a Fredrix Spirit of America Award, Best Painting by a Maryland artist in Easton Plein Air and the Award of Excellence in the NOAPS On-Line Showcase. She has received 13 awards in international miniature competitions. In the past three prestigious Art Renewal Center (ARC) Salons, Carol has been a finalist seven times and received an Honorable Mention.\u003Cbr /\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003EShe is a recognized Living Artist (A.R.C.L.A.) with the ARC. Carol is a Signature Member of the OPA and has elevated to Associate Member of The American Academy of Equine Art. She is also a member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association and the Miniature Painters, Sculptors \u0026amp; Gravers Society of Washington, D.C. Carol is published in \u0022Best of America Oil Artists II,\u0022 \u0022Fresh Flowers: The Best of Flower Painting\u0022, \u0022Art of the American West\u0022 and \u0022The TOP 100 Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic\u0022. She has been featured in many magazine articles.\u003Cbr /\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003EShe is a graduate of Towson State University, holds a Masters of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and is a graduate of the Schuler School of Fine Arts, where she she still teaches part-time. Carol has been affiliated with the Schuler School for over thirty years, where she was honored to work with her mentor and dearest friend, the late Ann Didusch Schuler. Carol also teaches at The Zoll Studio of Fine Art. It is important to note that her traditional atelier training allows her to work with the materials and techniques of the Old Masters. She prepares her surfaces with lead and glue, grinds her own pigments, and paints with Maroger medium.
