Creating brings me much joy, but it is nothing compared to the joy of giving happiness and causing an emotional response in the viewer. Above all,\u0026nbsp;the goal of art is to provoke emotions.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0022I was born near Paris, but I went regularly to spend school holidays on my grandfather\u0027s small farm in the southwest of France, in Figeac...As I child I stood in admiration of artists such as Ingres, Gericault, Durer, and Da Vinci.\u0026nbsp; I tried to reproduce their works in an instinctive way because I had never taken formal drawing lessons. I spent hours at a time drawing.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI wanted to go to the School of Fine Arts of Paris. My artistic portfolio earned me acceptance, but unfortunately, as I wasn\u0027t yet 18 years old, I was not allowed entrance.\u0026nbsp; Very disappointed, I totally gave up drawing in pencil because, during this period, I didn\u0027t paint, I only drew.\u0026nbsp; I continued secretary studies and worked at various companies in Paris before establishing my own company.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EWhen I was 28 years old, a friend offered me a gift of oil paints and a stack of canvas.\u0026nbsp; It was a revelation.\u0026nbsp; I discovered colors, matter and lighting effects.\u0026nbsp; I knew nothing about artistic techniques but I instinctively knew how to approach a subject because of my drawing.\u0026nbsp; It was cathartic and I wanted to try every painting technique.\u0026nbsp; As I experimented, I felt like a child discovering new gifts under the Christmas tree.\u0026nbsp; I developed my own technique and way of working.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EIn 2003, while participating in an animal exhbition near Figeac, I had the idea that I wanted to become exclusiviely an animal artist.\u0026nbsp; Five years laters, I started focusing on animals in my work as a painter, sculptor and photographer.\u003C/p\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI find that it is really very important for an animal artist to get involved in nature conservation. In 2010, I helped create an an enviromental association called Lou Pais Environment because sometimes, grave problems connected to the environment are just beyond our front door.
