My Long term Educational and Career Goals

Giuseppe de Palma

Currently, I am finishing the first year at The Florence Academy of Art. I found the FAA a place of true artistic and personal growth contrary to my disappointing experiences dealing with Italian public institutions. FAA brings back the historical artistic and artisanal workshop tradition to Italy.

This stimulating environment is fundamentally importance to me. I see the acquisition of technical knowledge as the foundation of future development. After completing the entire school program, I think it is important to continue exploring the different figurative languages that are present in the world art scene.

After graduating, I will apply for the Forth Year Prize so that I can continue to compare myself with the high technical standards of that environment. If I have the opportunity to teach, I will welcome it enthusiastically. I believe that passing on knowledge to others is the first and foremost importance for a society that wants to grow. It would also be an experience for me to learn from.

My main objective is to be able to create works that reflect the social value of painting. From personal needs and reflections, I believe that this objective is fundamentally necessary.

Currently my personal studies focus on artists such as Rubens, Velazquez, Bouguereau, Boldini and Annigoni. They fascinate me because of their enormous technical knowledge at the service of a strong creative force.

Biography

Giuseppe de Palma

I am Giuseppe de Palma, born on May 23, 2001, the passion for drawing and painting came from my early years;

I attended the art school "G. de Nittis" in Bari graduating in architecture with full marks, at the same time I was able to cultivate my interests by going to the workshop of the painter Filippo Cacace, well known in Apulia, student in turn of the great Riccardo tommasi Ferroni (1934-2000) ;from his lessons I started to understand the various expressive possibilities of oil painting . During those five year, I had the opportunity to learn from other contemporary painters including Renato Nosek, great exponent of a painting from the Venetian heritage of the 600, and Cesar Santos exponent of the new contemporary figuration.  While studying with Santos in Florence, I was able to return and admire the Florentine environment that already captured my interest five years before and remained in my mind. Since then, I have always kept the idea that, for a painting student, it was necessary to be in the right environment in order to produce something beautiful. That is why I recently decided to move to Florence to continue my studies at the Florence Academy of Art.

Several of my paintings, including portraits and scenes, are present in different private collections in different cities of Puglia, but also in Florence, Rome and Dublin.
