My art teachers always tell me "you are here to build good habits, that you can use when you become a painter". I agree with this statement. The academic training is essential not only to learn the method but also to learn how to think and approach painting with full consciousness of yourself. The aspects of the training that I admire the most are the similarities between the studio time and life in general (competition, struggles, challenges…). Through the program's projects I find myself pushing new limits each day, trying every day to be better than the day before. Somehow the discipline of the training is really changing and elevating me as a person. My goal is to be a professional painter and work  from life with models. Inspired by the lesson that I learned from the great masters I hope to develop my own distinctive approach to traditional painting and offer a contemporary vision of the  world and human nature.  This vision will not be a transfiguration of reality but a faithful translation of reality from nature.

Since I was a kid I always thought I would become a painter. Everything I did, every choice I took in my life was planned to lead me closer to becoming a painter. I never had a second thought about it. I simply stake everything on that. It may seem irresponsible but I like to think that it is a crucial part of reaching your dream.

My goal is to become a professional painter. I understand that’s really hard. I was lucky enough to be born on the right side of the world, in a family that accepted, trusted  and supported my ambitions, I also have the ability of painting, but this is still not enough.  I need funds to be able to complete my studies at the Florence Academy of Art. With the scholarship, I will be able not only to finish my last trimester and graduate, but also to accept the proposal made by the school to join the 4th year of residency at the Academy  to continue painting and kickstart my art career.

Francesco Bianchini born in 1995 in Milan, Italy.

I attended the art high school of Brera in the  heart of Milan, where I was taught the basics of sculpture, painting and history of art, in addition to the regular subjects. In 2012 I studied as an exchange student for one year in Minneapolis where I received the Tri Metro award for my artworks.

Without any doubt, like many of the students that graduate  from  that high school in Milan, I continued my artistic studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera. I enrolled in the painting course but  I was very disappointed to find out that I wouldn't learn how to paint or draw because the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera doesn't teach that.  At that point, I thought it was still the best option  and I was resigned to the fact  that schools where you learn how to draw and paint don't exist anymore. So, I started teaching myself how to paint with oils and in 2016 I won the first prize in the Arte Sul Naviglio Competition.

I managed to graduate on time in 2017  with 110 cum laude (honors) with a thesis on the works of John Singer Sargent in Italy.

After months of studying Sargent's work, I fell in love with painting  in an immense, joyful way and I felt like I was born again to be a painter. I discovered artists from the past and contemporary artists that graduated from the Florence Academy of Art. Finally, I learned about all the academies that teach the traditional methods of art.

I applied to the Florence Academy of Art and started in the fall of 2018.  In 2019 my painting placed as a finalist in the Portrait Society of America member competition.

I was quickly moved to the painting class  and I am right now in the 3rd year.
