The desire to express myself through the means of art is a quality I've had since I was young. Growing up, I was very fortunate to be surrounded by people who encouraged creativity, shared a love for craftsmanship, and always allowed me to follow the path that I connected with the most. My childhood has had a large impact on the person I am today, and has taught me the importance of bridging the past to the present. As an artist, what inspires me most is the maintenance and expansion of this bridge. In a world where humanity advances at such a fast pace, I believe it is imperative to not lose touch with our roots, and to continue to create with purpose and technical prowess. It is important to me to utilize the knowledge of artists past. Now that I am studying at the Florence Academy of Art, I have access to many of the tools necessary to pursue my education and hone my skills as a classically trained artist. I am aware, however, that this education will be a lifelong endeavor, and will most certainly not end with my time in Florence. Post-graduation, I plan to enroll in workshops and spend more time in an atelier setting when I can. As a professional artist, it is my goal to continue bridging the past to the present; creating artwork that is a dialogue between the humanity of today and the traditions which have brought us here. Alongside this, I plan to share my knowledge and teach individuals seeking classical training. I hope to be a piece in the foundation of this bridge that will continue to suspend the beauty of classical art for many generations to come.
