My paintings are a constant investigation of the human condition in the twenty-first century. When exploring specifically the realm of still-life, I tend to use retro objects appearing to be obsolete from functionality only to be appreciated as objects that serve for aesthetic purposes. This world then seeks to draw a reflection of the past while being true to present time. In my work “Unveiled” I try to capture the mundane as an outstanding delight. The painting narrates the climactic event of unveiling a new present, however in this case a used 1940s mixer. In attempts to contrast the old and the new I juxtaposed shiny magenta gift wrapping paper with dynamic rhythmic folds to reveal the old kitchen appliance underneath in a modern sleek way.
