While looking at the gallery on your site, I discovered that the beautiful old painting of "Fatma Ta'roubriant" (1862) that I bought back in the '70s is by Isidore Pils -- and that he was a French Academic Classicist.
Because of your site, I feel vindicated that I am more drawn toward classic painting and drawing rather than the daubs of color applied to canvas that I studied at U.C. Berkeley as an undergraduate.
