I have a great deal of respect for any artist who wishes to
recapture the power and beauty of the work of the Old Masters. My theory is
that art takes just as much effort and technical skill as it does emotion
and imagination. When you look at a painting done by the old masters, you
can appreciate the amount of talent it takes to create such a work. This
gives it a universal appeal. I have much contempt for modernists who create
"art" that represents nothing except for thier lack of talent or to push the
envelope of absurdity, as well as critics who actually encourage this kind
of "artistic" thinking and condenm anything that the majority of people can
appreciate, (or understand).
