Sample of the standard Fine Art education in the former USSR (for the art teacher):

1. State Children's Art School (grade 1 to 10)
4 hours a day X 3 days a week X 42 weeks X 10 years = 5040 hours (plus some weekend workshops in drawing, plain air, perspective etc.)

2. State Art College (hands-on disciplines specific to Fine Art only):
a) project graphics - 72 hours
b) drawing - 716 hours

d) sculpture - 440 hours
e) anatomy for Artists - 72 hours
f) drafting -34 hours
g) perspective - 38 hours
h) lettering - 144 hours
i) technology - 144 hours
j) composition basics - 108 hours
k) composition - 392 hours
l) ornamentation - 84 hours
m) color - 72 hours
n) studio - 1134 hours
o) safety - 32 hours

plus work on your Diploma project - about 6 month
profession - "Painting and Decorative-applied arts"

3. State University (Bachelor of Art program) - hands-on disciplines only
a) safety - 62 hours
b) decorative art - 36 hours
c) decorative-applied art - 194 hours + 311 hours
Ukrainian decorative-applied arts - 108 hours
d) drawing - 614 hours + 140 hours
e) painting -614 hours + 140 hours
f) decorative-applied art (studio) - 1464 hours
g) design - 384 hours + 64 hours
h) Sculpture and anatomy - 140 hours
i) drafting - 434 hours
j) geometry for drafters - 140 hours
k) perspective -140 hours
l) composition - 596 hours + 119 hours
m) restoration of paintings - 54 hours

plus work on your diploma project - 4 weeks + 4 weeks or more.

Please note - this is NOT MASTER OF FINE ART - this is standard education of the regular art teacher - skills based education.
