Hockney's possible motives

When I was at City and Guilds of London Art School, Mary-Rose Beaumont gave lectures on contemporary art. I recall that she commented on one Hockney painting we were looking at - "as you can see, the artist's feet are buried in the shagpile - why? because Hockney can't draw or paint feet".

And there is the crux of the matter - the man does not have developed draughtsmanship skills, and thinnks that because he can't draw, no-one else can or could either...
