Let there be (artificial) light ...

Juan my non-scientific, purely visual feelings are that the cool colors throw a shorter distance. I have about decided to build a complete wall of light. I'm going to experiment with mixing all the options of the true light bulbs including adding a few extra cools to the 6000k bulbs to attempt to resolve what I see as a need for more purples and blues.

I'm talking here about the true spectrum fluorescents made by so many companies. I also will add halogen spots and floods as options and as needed for effect. I'm going to make it 6X8 feet high with the base 4 feet off the ground. I intend to have separate switches to allow me to revise the effect per my needs. I'm picking the brains of photographers too. Are you there Doug? Please chime in...

I'd appreciate any suggestions in this design phase. Graydon, I think you have some experience here?

Here's an over riding thought. I really love the cool highlights on some figures and the warm shadows. Nature gives us this - how to get artificially there?
