The PR of Modernism

You know what, I'm tired of this fascination with the "artist" that could paint realistically, but gets "bored" or "rejects it" and decides to paint "abstractly" story. None of that stuff really matters. The only thing that should be important to me is if I like the work at all. Most of those artists who have that story as part of their press kits, weren't that good at it in the first place, (there are exceptions that aren't Picasso; Frantisek Kupka comes to mind) so why should I care, if I don't like what they did at a later stage?
