WHAT WILL I LEARN?

This advanced workshop is intended for participants who already have some knowledge of drawing. It ideally follows on from our basic drawing workshop and can either be held at a later date or directly after it.

In this workshop you will learn how to draw with charcoal. Our teachers will teach you how to sharpen it, what degree of hardness to use for what, how to create clean transitions and how to build up several layers of charcoal on top of each other. Charcoal has the property of being much darker than pencil. This gives your drawings even more three-dimensionality. It is also very good for creating different moods.
 

We continue to deepen your knowledge of the measuring methods. Continuous practice will make you even more confident in using them. You will also find that it trains your eyes and you will become more and more accurate over time. This will also make it easier for you to recognize errors. We will teach you how to correct yourself and what tricks we use to recognize and correct proportions and tonalities.
 

In addition to the drawing itself, you will also learn important information about drawing with charcoal. There are many different types of charcoal now available to buy and each has its advantages and disadvantages. In addition, some papers are better than others for drawing with charcoal. Get to know the differences so that you won't be surprised when buying materials later on. We will also show you how to fix your drawings to make them last longer.

 

INFO/PERIOD

5-day workshop with 30 lessons. Lessons take place from Monday to Friday from 09:30 - 16:30. There is a lunch break from 12:30 - 13:30. The workshop is taught in German and/or English. We will enquire about your language skills for this.

 

MATERIALS

For this workshop we need materials for oil painting. This includes painting surfaces, oil paints, brushes etc. You will receive a list of materials before the start of the workshop so that you can get everything you need. If you are unsure about certain materials, we will of course be happy to give youhis.
