The results for the 26th ARC Scholarship competition will be announced September 8th.

At ARC we view our scholarship program as one of the most important. In order for future generations to produce great art, we must not lose the accumulated knowledge of the last several centuries. At our ARC Approved Atelier® schools, we know these methods are still taught by some of the greatest artists alive today and the students who are the recipients of these scholarships will receive the training necessary to create great works of art and carry the knowledge to the next generation.

Angel Academy of Art in Florence offers rigorous classical fine arts training in the direct lineage of Pietro Annigoni. Enroll in their three-year Diploma Programme starting January 2027 (apply by 1 October 2026), or join a four-week Intensive Course in portrait painting — winter sessions from January, spring sessions from April.

The Academy is located in the historic center of Florence, steps from the Uffizi, the Accademia, and five centuries of accumulated artistic achievement. For students serious about classical realism, Florence is not a backdrop. It is the education.

Congratulations to ARC Living Master Jon Boe Paulsen for winning  3rd Place for  "Portrait of Sidsel. Green Version" in the Fusion Art Competition!

The Fusion gallery judged 395 entries from all over the world for the exhibition, which will be featured on the website homepage for 3 months. After that it will remain in the Exhibition Archives.

Fusion Art was envisioned and formed out of a passion for art and the artists who create it. The Fusion Art website hosts uniquely themed monthly and quarterly, solo and group, art competitions and exhibitions, while providing artists with worldwide exposure and the opportunity to compete for additional exhibition opportunities and awards.

The word Orient is derived from the Latin Oriens, which means the direction of the rising sun—the east. Orientalism: Between Fact and Fantasy explores notions of “the East” in the 19th century, when globalism, shaped by colonialism and imperialism, fueled unprecedented encounters, connections, and exchanges in Europe and the Middle East.

Orientalism: Between Fact and Fantasy is the first exhibition at The Met to explore Orientalism as its central focus, presenting not only easel paintings but also drawings, photographs, illustrated books, architecture, arms and armor, textiles, garments, glassware, ceramics, and metalwork. Highlighting The Met collection, it features approximately 180 objects from 12 Met departments along with rarely seen loans from the U.S. and abroad.

The exhibition takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 5th Ave, NY, NY until February 28, 2027.

For over two decades, the Aristides Atelier has provided artists a sequential path toward mastery rooted in observation, patience, and the slow accumulation of skill.   Now this education is offered fully online, carrying forward the same care and attention that has always defined the Aristides Atelier. 

Classes begin September 14, students will progress through a structured curriculum. The program includes live instruction, demonstrations, lectures, critiques, readings and guided studio sessions, held within a dedicated community of artists and teaching faculty. Learn the traditional composition structures and underpainting/overpainting techniques used by the great portrait masters, under Mr. Angel's guidance. Handouts cover materials, mediums, grounds, and layered oil painting methods.

Weeks 1–2: Sight-size studies of 3 masks progressing from planar to naturalistic, followed by value and color exercises.

Weeks 3–4: Master copy of a portrait in black and white, then a finished color portrait (~70×50cm) from photo reference.

Students receive 30 hours/week of instruction with morning and afternoon critiques daily. All levels welcome. A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon finishing the four-week intensive.

Sugarman-Peterson Gallery is honored to present “In Tribute to Women,” a special exhibition of paintings by internationally acclaimed realist painter Duffy Sheridan. This exhibition celebrates the beauty, dignity, strength and individuality of women through Sheridan’s distinguished figurative paintings.

Recognized as an ARC Living Master, Duffy Sheridan’s work is held in private, corporate, institutional and museum collections throughout the US and abroad.

The public reception takes place on August 14th, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. to meet the artist. The exhibition runs From August 14 -  September 15, 2026 at the Sugarman-Peterson Gallery at 130 West Palace Avenue, Santa Fe, NM 87501.

Even if you were unable to attend the ARC/FWSD event at Sotheby’s NY on July 25th, you can still vote for your favorite painting/designer pairing from now until August 15 by clicking here. 

The “Art and Beauty Behind Fashion” was a singular one night event where Fashion Week San Diego designers were matched with eleven winning artists’ work. The designers created an original couture outfit and look inspired by the artwork. The ARC Salon winning works along with the specially designed garments were on display with live models on July 25, 2026 at Sotheby's New York, while the ARC Salon Exhibition was on view.

"In 1939, The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) celebrated the opening of their new Museum and, no less than the President of the United States himself, Franklin Delano Roosevelt spoke at the opening. There and then, he consecrated Modern, experimental and abstract art as uniquely American as it demonstrated that in America you were free to do anything. He didn't address the question whether literally 'anything' is worth doing."
