Art World Event of the Century
November 9, 2010
![]() | France's foremost museum for 19th Century art, the Musée d'Orsay, has acquired five major paintings by William Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905), bringing the total to eight, which are to be hung in a permanent installation with the French Impressionists. William Bouguereau is, overwhelmingly, the most popular artist shown in the ARC Museum, and is increasingly seen in the eyes of art historians as possibly the most important artist of the 19th Century. He is one of a handful of the most important artists in all human history, that small club including such names as Michelangelo, Rembrandt and Caravaggio. Bouguereau's poetic renderings of the psychology of youth married to impeccable technical perfection has raised the bar for all artists. He has become the artistic model worldwide for ateliers and thousands of classically trained artists who graduate from ARC Approved Schools every year. |
