Four-week intensives in portrait painting – Angel Academy of Art

Learn the traditional composition structures and underpainting/overpainting techniques used by the great portrait masters, under Mr. Angel's guidance. Handouts cover materials, mediums, grounds, and layered oil painting methods.

Weeks 1–2: Sight-size studies of 3 masks progressing from planar to naturalistic, followed by value and color exercises.

Weeks 3–4: Master copy of a portrait in black and white, then a finished color portrait (~70×50cm) from photo reference.

Students receive 30 hours/week of instruction with morning and afternoon critiques daily. All levels welcome. A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon finishing the four-week intensive.
