Mystic
Published on May 28, 2025
“Mystic” is ARC Living Master Katsu Nakajima's first solo exhibition in the Ginza/Hibiya area in 14 years and features more than 35 works, including landscapes, centered around 10 of his latest realistic portrait paintings with gold leaf backgrounds.
He has previously painted several works that feature butterflies (swallowtails) on portraits, but this time the butterfly has changed to a moth. He has loved insects since he was a child, but says that he had an extreme aversion and fear of moths. However, he says that his perspective has changed significantly recently, and that he finds it mysteriously fascinating. His current solo exhibition "Mystic" features three works that explore the change in his mental image.
The exhibition runs from June 3 – 8, 2025 at Gallery Hibiya, 100-0006 1-6-5 Yurakucho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
