Marlene Peltoniemi

After graduating from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts (English) and a Bachelor of Education, I taught young children for a time in Toronto. But, I can’t remember a time in my life when wasn’t drawing or painting. So, when I moved to Thunder Bay, while working and raising my children, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to study art formally, albeit on a part-time basis. Eventually, I was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with honours from Lakehead University. While continuing my art education by attending workshops across Canada and the United States, I discovered the Academy of Realist Art inToronto and at long last I found the realist art training and education for which I’d been searching. I feel much gratitude to my instructors and fellow students there for their teaching, their generosity, and their encouragement as I pursue my artistic goals.
