Anita Van Zeumeren - Bio
Originally a self taught artist while raising her 5 sons, Anita Van Zeumeren is now studying part time at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto. In 2018, she was grateful to be a finalist in the 13th International Art Renewal Center Salon. Prior to that her work has been shown in a few local galleries and private universities.
Her current body of work reflects a journey of decolonization and a different perspective of the history that was taught to her through a Eurocentric lens. Having had the honour of listening to the teachings and testimonies of Indigenous survivors and elders, her artwork expresses a re-examination of her faith, the depth and beauty of others and her part in reconciliation.
