Artist’s Statement St:
Developing ideas and painting compositions, following a classical tradition, using careful observation of light on ordinary objects and flowers to arouse the viewers imagination and appreciation of their fleeting beauty.
Bio
Barbara’s interest in art has been a life-long journey. Drawing and painting at a very early age, always seeking a way to channel her creative energy with a visual interpretation of the beautiful and mysterious world around her.
Her interest and curiosity in the nature continues to grow and persist in her paintings today. An avid gardener, she often utilizes seasonal flowers in her painting. Barbara’s still life paintings often captures related culinary items as they might be encounters when preparing a meal.
Barbara received a BA with a concentration in painting from Ramapo College of New Jersey and an MA in studio ceramics from Montclair State University.
Her pursuit of a more classical approach to realism lead her to study at Grand Central Atelier in New York with accomplished artist Greg Mortensen, Justin Wood, Colleen Barry and Patrick Byrnes, as well as in the private studio of Michael Klein and Josh LA Rock.
Barbara resides with her husband and standard poodle in Bergen County, NJ and Middlebury, Vermont.
