Genevieve May Nolan

United States

Genevieve May was raised into a family of artists in Northampton MA. Parents, Dennis Nolan and Lauren Mills wrote and illustrated children's books that still to this day have shaped Genevieve's style. Before graduating from the University of Hartford with an illustration degree, she went off to study at the Bay Area Classical Artist Atelier with Graydon Parrish, Steven Early and Michael Grimaldi. Upon returning she moved to Manhattan where she worked as a painter for Jeff Koons and apprentised under Brad Kunkle. She now lives and works in her studio in West Hartford with her partner and three snakes that she paints and uses as inspiration and reference for her paintings. Mixing her classical background in painting with an ethereal abstract world, she wishes to portray another world, a visual escape for the viewer to get lost in. Her medium of choice is oil and gold leaf.
