Georgina Mills

Australia

Georgina Mills is an Australian artist currently living and working in Florence, Italy. She has trained internationally at the Adelaide College of the Arts (BA-Sculpture); University of South Australia (GradDip – Arts and Event Cultural Management); and the Florence Academy of Art, Italy (Advance Sculpture). At the Florence Academy of Art she was awarded a winter and spring Scholarship (2017), Outstanding Performance in Écorché Sculpture (2017), and Best Écorché Sculpture (2018).

After graduation Georgina won the Fourth Year Prize for sculpture at the Florence Academy of Art. This consists of a one-year artist residency in a shared studio on campus where recipients can continue to develop their technique and ideas. Georgina has commenced an exploration into ways which one can capture and create an aura in figurative sculpture and has begun work on a series that unpacks an experience fundamental to human existence: grief.

Georgina assists with sculpture workshops at the Florence Academy of Art (2017, 2018, ongoing), and Rob Gutteridge Classical School of Realism in Adelaide (2018), (forthcoming, May 2019) visiting teacher at Figura, the Dutch Academy of Figurative Sculpture in Amsterdam.
