Christina Mastrangelo

United States

Christina Grace Mastrangelo (b. 1983) grew up in Western Massachusetts. Always fascinated by figurative painting, her passion first ignited during a visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum, and was further cultivated in her adolescent years amidst travels to Paris and Rome. After high school she moved to Virginia to attend James Madison University. While pursuing her degree in Studio Art, Christina studied abroad in Florence, Italy, taking classes at the British Institute in Humanism, Italian, and Art History. Immediately following graduation from JMU in 2006 (BA in Studio Art, Honors College) she moved to Florence, Italy to study at the Angel Academy of Art from 2006-2009.

Florence seriously molded Christina’s artistic vision. Her style is called Classical Realism: her work represents nature realistically, often slightly idealized to achieve order, harmony, and beauty.

Christina has exhibited abroad at The European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) in Barcelona, the Villa Bardini in Florence, and has had two solo shows in Florence as well as one at the D'Amour Museum of Fine Art in Springfield, Massachusetts. Some of her most recent awards and recognitions were from the Portrait Society of America (2018, 2014, 2013), Art Renewal Center (2015, 2010), National Oil & Acrylic Painters' Society International (2015), the Salmagundi Club (2015, 2014, 2012), and the Oil Painters of America (2014).

Christina is currently represented by the Guild of Boston Artists, Williams Fine Art Dealers, the Zhou B Arts Center (The New Nude, Artsy), and PoetsArtists. She lives between Jacksonville, Florida and Wilbraham, Massachusetts with her husband, illustrator Nicholas McNally.
