Laura den Hertog

Canada

About her art the artist explains, “Like a walk in nature, viewing landscape art evokes peaceful, uplifting feelings. Even more astounding, it speeds healing, lowers blood pressure and generally promotes feeling better, physically, emotionally and mentally. That’s the power of the sun, water and land converging to create a harmonious whole. My art is a reflection of the deeply nurturing relationship we have with nature. ”

Laura den Hertog was born in Montreal, Canada and currently lives in the Ottawa valley in a century old farmhouse where she maintains her studio as a full-time artist. Having left behind both city and suburbia in favour of the countryside, Laura is in the perfect location to nurture her passions. Surrounded by a perfect combination of natural wonders. The rolling hills and streams of the valley she calls home is bordered by mountains, rural farmland and majestic rivers.

When she isn’t painting, Laura can be found outdoors exploring the land and gardening or creating a feast for frequent get-togethers with family, friends and fellow artists. Trained as an illustrator and designer, she has focused her art career on fine art painting.

Laura has had numerous exhibitions during the past 16 years across the USA, Canada and the UK. The most notable exhibitions have been held at Montreal’s McCord Museum, the OXO Warf Tower in London England and a national museum tour across the USA in The New Reality: The Frontier of Realism in the 21st Century.  The artist has been featured in many publications such as Poets and Artists and the New Art Review. Also notable is her inclusion in the Art Renewal Centre’s 13th Annual ARC Salon Competition and The Healing Power of Art 2019, Award of Excellence, Manhattan Arts International, NYC, USA

Her artwork is in many private and public collections in Canada, the USA and Europe, including New York City’s MOMA as part of Ray Johnson’s A Book About Death, and the private collection of Elizabeth Edwards.

“Laura den Hertog creates landscape paintings that transcend the visual grandeur of the natural world. Her majestic vistas take us to states of exaltation and peaceful reverence. The powerful life-affirming and healing energy that emanates from her paintings reflect her technical virtuosity and sensitivity to the magnificent wonders of the world.” ~ Renée Phillips, Director, Manhattan Arts International, NYC, NY
