Teresa Brutcher was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1955. She graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a BA in Studio Art and continued her studies at the University, San Fernando, in Madrid. While studying, she collaborated at “Grupo 15”, a well-known print studio and gallery in Madrid, where she learned etching and lithography from master printers, techniques which she employed during the early years of her career. She returned to the US in the early 80´s where she taught painting and drawing at Yavapai College in Northern Arizona. There, she began favoring graphite and colored pencil drawing. Her works showed in galleries and museums in Arizona at that time. For the past 32 years, she has lived and worked in the North of Spain showing her figurative oil paintings in museums and galleries there and in galleries in Portugal, Germany and the US. She is currently represented by the Ceferino Navarro Gallery (Granada), The Blueant Gallery, Madrid, and Espacio 36, Zamora.
