Biography
Born in Washington D.C. and now living in Northern California, Clark Louis Gussin at an early
age studied painting and drawing for two years at the Corcoran Gallery Of Art, Art School. After
serving four years in the Navy, Clark received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting with
distinction at the California College of Arts and Crafts, Oakland in 1975. A thirty six year career
at International Business Machines, including illustration, photography, video, education and
design. Parallel to this career, Clark pursued painting portraits, landscapes, and private
commissions. In 2014 Clark embarked on a new career as an Independent Fine Art Professional
specializing in painting and drawing.
Clark is represented by the Art Renewal Center with Living Artist status, and was inducted into
the California Art Club as an Artist Member in 2016. He recently received a “Best of Show”
award at the New Museum of Los Gatos and was published in Strokes of Genius 8, The Best of
Drawing by North Light Books. In 2016, Clark received an Honorable Mention in the “Artistic
Excellence” competition published in the December issue of Southwest Art magazine. In 2014 a
“Best in Show” in the 58th National Exhibition at the Haggin Museum of Art. Clark had a Solo
Show in 2013 at the Triton Museum of Art where he also has a painting in their permanent
collection.
Clark Gussin currently maintains his studio and practice in San Jose, California.
