Janet A. Cook 


Originally from the UK, Cook studied at the National Academy School of Art and the Art Students League in New York City, and holds a BA in Art History with honors from the De Montfort University, England, UK. She now resides and works in New York City.

Cook teaches at the Pastel Society of America and runs workshops at The Art Students league in New York City, and the Teaching Studios of Oyster Bay. Recently, she ran workshops in France. Her work is in many private collections in the US, UK, Panama, Israel and the permanent collection of the Trenton City Museum, NJ. Cook has been invited to judge and jury many shows in New York and New Jersey and has appeared as a guest lecturer at Southern Utah University.

Cook's work was featured on NBC's 'Dateline' program, the 'Da Vinci Code' and has appeared in the New York Times and reviewed and noted in the Times of Trenton, NJ, Fine Art Connoisseur, The Brooklyn Rail, NYArtbeat.com events section, Artdaily.org, The Epoch Times, The American Art Collector, American Artist Magazine, the Gallery and Studio Magazine, The Times Square Chronicle, TheGreatNude.tv Fine Art Connoisseur, The Pastel Journal, and The New York Optimist. Her portrait painting appeared on the front cover of the Art Students League Lines Magazine and in the June 2014 issue of Poets and Artists magazine.

 Over the years Cook has received many awards for excellence, including 2016 Outside the Box Finalist and an Honorable mention from the Portrait Society of America members show and Finalist in the 12th International Art Renewal Center Salon.

A Gold and Silver medal from the Allied Artists of America and The Salmagundi Club; A Master Circle Medal award from The International Association of Pastel Societies, Best in Show from the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. Cook is a Master Pastelist of the Pastel Society of America, an elected member of the Salmagundi Club, The Allied Artists of America, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and America Artists Professional League.
