Victor Blakey

A degree in Fine Art from Texas State University and a decade studing portraiture, gives Victor the skills to follow his passion as an artist.  He was awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Savannah School of Art and Design, but chose to attend a university in Texas instead where he earned a degree in fine art.  Victor is a Texas certified art teacher and taught 12 years in the Dallas School System before becoming a fulltime artist.  Influenced by the great portrait artist John Singer Sargent  and years of training have swayed Victor to focus heavily on portraiture.  He believe each face tells its own story and brings many personalities that adds depth and beauty to each piece. He thinks of life as a banquet of faces with struggles, hardships, and successes.  The challenge of each painting is to capture some of those emotions.
