Cool Retreat by Bob Upton

I painted this at Willow River Falls. I completed it in four hours on location during "Plein Air Hudson" using an indirect method with transparent layers of oil paint. The falls were filled with people jumping off the rocks into the water. I stayed in the cool shadows and painted the colorful reflections of the rocks in the cool water.
